Jackets cover the two stretches of the year that a coat is wrong for: the weeks in spring and fall when it is too cool for a sweater alone and too mild for anything insulated. What separates the styles here is mostly what they are built to keep out.

Bomber jackets are the easiest to wear — short body, ribbed hem, room for a hoodie underneath. Leather-look biker jackets do a different job: they add an edge to a plain outfit rather than adding warmth, so layer a knit underneath once it turns properly cold. The finish is a leather look, not animal leather, which is worth knowing before you order.

Rain and windproof jackets are the practical end. If you walk anywhere, look for a hood and a full-length zip; those two details are what actually make a difference on a wet commute. Blazers pull a casual outfit together and layer flat under a coat, which the boxier jackets here will not.
